Polop is a municipality in the Valencian community (Spain) located in the northeast of the province of Alicante, in the region of the Marina Baja.
During the ancient regime, Polop was a manorial barony of the crown of aragon. Barons of Polop was the name given to those who held the lordship. It was created by Jaime I of Aragon and granted to Doña Berenguela Alfonso de Castilla. The fief was in the hands of the house of aragon until 1430 and of the fajardo family until the beginning of the 19th century.
